My Favorite Children’s Book

I really enjoyed the Yumion the Onion series by Rhonda Frost Kight. It is a very enjoyable series of books about Yumion the onion traveling across the state of Georgia. I have always loved history, so this series talking about my home states history. As an adult I can see that there are different meanings and the books mean more to me now than they did when I was a child. Now I appreciate the history and the facts that were told throughout the series. I can now understand themes and the symbolization of the main character being an onion from Vidalia, Georgia. This is great symbolization because Vidalia is known for it’s production of onions. The series is a great series and I highly recommend it to any Georgia resident.

Is Social Media Helpful or Damaging to Society?

Social media has quite literally changed modern society, but is it a good change? I say for sure it is a good change. Sure people post things they shouldn’t but for some it has become a medium for expressing yourself. Some advantages of social media include, showing all your friends and followers what’s going on in your life. You also can meet a lot of new people and make new friendships that last a lifetime. Some disadvantages of social media include, a loss of privacy. Yes, you can make your accounts private but we all know a snake that will out you so quick. You also have to watch what you post. If you’re an athlete especially, if you post something bad it can prevent you from getting a scholarship. Social media has drastically changed relationships. In todays time more relationships start over social media than they do face to face. People know how to talk through a screen but can’t speak face to face. Now a days people have more of a conversation over a a text than they do face to face. Social media has drastically changed dating. Girls post their whole relationship on their page. So guys, if you like a girl be sure to check out her social media page before trying to get with her. It could save you a headache or a heart ache. I am not addicted to social media. I am one with the woods and love to be outdoors hunting and fishing. I do not let social media run my life, but I feel that social media has had an overall positive affect on society today.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.

About This Blog/Class

This blog is about the daily life of a JUCO baseball player. This whole school thing is really not so hot but baseball is great. Monday was a different story at baseball though, we ran, rand, and ran some more. It was terrible, but so far school is going really well. I really like all of my teachers, they are all very fun and easy to talk to. Not so sure about all of this writing but were just going to push through so we can get on the field in February. All in all first week of college has been great.
